Yeezy Season

FUJI INSTAX WIDE / IPHONE 7+

NIck Sakai / @Nicksakai

Amidst the craziness of my week I ran over to 12AMRUN to see my friend Nick Sakai, who is also one of the owners of the shop. 12AMRUN is a sneaker and street wear store located at the LINQ. With the release of the new Yeezys this weekend I knew he would be dealing with his own madness so of course I had to badger him for some photos.

Valley of Fire

Sunday I woke up and decided that I needed a chill day. I took a bath in the morning while listening to podcasts, which may be my new favorite combo. After some family time I grabbed my camera and headed up to Valley of Fire State Park. I've been going to Valley of Fire for years to get away, catch a breath outside of Vegas. It's located about 50 minutes from here off the 15 north, super easy to get there. There is no cell reception and it's immensely quiet. Some days I've gone there during the week, on a Monday, and it's like I have the park to myself. It's a beautiful thing.

My favorite trail is the Fire Wave, it's about a half mile up and down some hills to a phenomenal multi colored rock formation. When the sun hits it at sunset it's an explosion of color. The two lane road through the park is surrounded by some killer landscapes, so much red rocks it's like Mars almost. Highly recommend if you're looking to get out of the city for a bit.  I ended the day on the drive home pulling over in the middle of no where and watching the sunset explode into a pink and orange sky while listening to Frank Ocean. Perfect.

John Mayer: The Search For Everything Tour

Tonight I caught John Mayer at T-Mobile Arena for his The Search for Everything Tour. I had never seen him live before - amazing musician. The show is broken up into chapters which i liked:

1. Band 2. Acoustic 3. Trio 4. Band (reprise)

He switches it up and keeps fresh, and he makes those faces when he plays guitar. He is funny between songs, throwing out some stand up here and there. Some highlights for me were covers from Jimmy Hendrix, Tom Petty, Mayer staples like "Why Georgia Why" and new material "Love On The Weekend." The acoustic set was amazing...few people can quiet an arena to silence and keep their attention.

Special shout out to LANY who opened the show,  who I wasn't familiar with initially but after doing some digging realized I had heard them on Zane Lowe / Apple Music Beats One. LOVED LOVED their set, super lush and sometimes emo.
